Bren has got a chart of when everyone is on holiday and other special occasions such as that day they have a work experience girl starting and at the weekend the canteen is being re-painted.
The work experience girl, Sigourney, is eventually found by Tony and brought to the canteen. She isn't very bright and asks silly questions like "is the canteen re-painted every weekend?"
Bert, the decorator and two lads, Paul and Derwent, show up thinking they are painting that day, not the weekend. Bren insists it's the weekend because that's what the chart says but Philippa turns up and tells them it has all been changed, it is the weekend but she forgot to tell them.
Glenda comes in to deliver the bread because Norman's having a panic attack. The decorators start to bring in a big ladder but it gets stuck with Glenda behind it. She has just had an operation down below and has staples. She's drunk a lot of water because she needs a full bladder for her check-up. She starts to need the toilet but can't get out from behind the ladder. She can't climb or go under it because of the staples and she can't go out of the fire escape because Stan's put a skip there.
Bert goes off to ask his wife if they can saw the ladders because they are hers. Betty, a woman doing a belly dancing class, comes in to see Stan. She has a tape recorder so puts some music on. Everyone is dancing around apart from Glenda. She can't take any more so Stan starts to cut the ladders.
