It's Monday. We meet Bren, Jean, Dolly, Anita and Twinkle, the dinnerladies. Also Tony the manager and Stan the handyman.
Norman the breadman comes to bring the bread. He tells Bren he doesn't like stairs because they make him panicky. He says he fell off a diving board in Guernsey. Today he hasn't bought the granary torpedoes that were ordered.
Philippa, the new Human Resources manager introduces herself to the girls. They aren't impressed with her ideas for Scottish country dancing or Feng Shui.
Jean is trying to organise her daughter Lisa's wedding. They can't agree on the bridesmaid's dresses or underwear. She is also trying to organise the food and music.
Petula, Bren's mum, comes in to ask Bren to put a mobile phone in a wheely bin but says it isn't because it's stolen. She then tells Jean she would get her Richard Clayderman to play the piano at the wedding, except he won't travel in a plane because he can't leave his dog behind! She then tells her she knows an accordionist.
A girl called Carly turns up to see Jean the next day but she's a stripper. However, her grandad plays the accordion so he goes to see Jean. She's happy with him and so is Philippa, who think the girls have organised something instead of the country dancing! However, it's too late for the wedding...Lisa turns up and asks Bren to tell Jean they have just got married because they didn't want the fuss of a big wedding.
Also, we meet Jane who likes twelve rounds of white toast, we learn Dolly brings her own scales and step machine to work and that she watched a film about a women who got pregnant with her dead husband's sperm she found in the freezer!
